How featured listings will work

How the listings are built

  1. Start from the agency's list

Every listing comes from the Department's license file and the Comptroller's permit list. Nothing is added from reviews or ads.

  2. Show the number, not an opinion

Each listing shows its license or permit number and its status on the file date. The directory does not rate or recommend businesses.

  3. Check it yourself

Take the number to the issuing agency (tdlr.texas.gov or comptroller.texas.gov) before you hire.

Common questions

Where does this list come from?

It is built from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation license file (downloaded 2026-10-30) and the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts active sales tax permit list (public domain, rows updated 2026-10-24).

Does a listing mean a business is recommended?

No. The directory lists businesses that appear in the agency files. It does not rate, rank by quality or endorse them.

Does every business here hold a contractor license?

Electrical contractors are listed from the license file. The equipment directories are listed from the Comptroller's sales tax permit list, which is not a contractor license.

How do I check a business?

Take the license or permit number from its listing to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (licenses) or the Texas Comptroller (sales tax permits).

Can I correct or remove a listing?

A correction of the record itself goes to the agency that issued it. Claim and removal requests for this directory are not open yet.
